چکیده
Abstract. This study investigates the sensitivity of modeled surface melt and subsurface heating on Antarctic ice sheet to a new spectral snow albedo radiative transfer scheme in Regional Atmospheric Climate Model (RACMO), version 2.3p3 (Rp3). We tune Rp3 observations by performing several experiments assess impact temperature incrementally changing one parameter at time. When fully tuned, compares well with situ remote sensing mass energy balance, melt, near-surface (sub)surface temperature, grain specific area. Near-surface is especially sensitive prescribed fresh area dry metamorphism. These processes, together refreezing water size heating, are important for around margins sheet. Moreover, small changes aforementioned processes can lead an order magnitude overestimation locally leading runoff reduced balance.

Method to determine snow albedo values in the ultraviolet for radiative transfer modeling.
For many cases modeled and measured UV global irradiances agree to within +/-5% for cloudless conditions, provided that all relevant parameters for describing the atmosphere and the surface are well known. However, for conditions with snow-covered surfaces this agreement is usually not achievable, because on the one hand the regional albedo, which has to be used in a model, is only rarely avail...
متن کاملA new parameterization of spectral and broadband ocean surface albedo.
A simple yet accurate parameterization of spectral and broadband ocean surface albedo has been developed. To facilitate the parameterization and its applications, the albedo is parameterized for the direct and diffuse incident radiation separately, and then each of them is further divided into two components: the contributions from surface and water, respectively. The four albedo components are...

متن کاملCRASH: a Radiative Transfer Scheme
We present a largely improved version of CRASH, a 3-D radiative transfer code that treats the effects of ionizing radiation propagating through a given inhomogeneous H/He cosmological density field, on the physical conditions of the gas. The code, based on a Monte Carlo technique, self-consistently calculates the time evolution of gas temperature and ionization fractions due to an arbitrary num...
